I am sending love to all those impacted by the recent wildfires that have erupted across California, as well as the numerous other natural disasters occurring across the United Sates. I have been focusing my attention and resources on the fires closest to my home, which are the CZU August Lightning Complex Fires.
These fires began on August 16th, 2020, and were caused by lightning strikes that resulted from excess moisture in the air from Tropical Storm Fausto that combined with intense heat. These fires have burned over 85,000 acres, destroying over 925 homes and even more businesses, beloved parks, and other structures.
The loss is great and grief hangs in the air as thick as the smoke. But though there is grief, there is resilience. Together, we will rise from the ashes and stand as tall as the redwoods that watch over us. Our community has never been stronger as people across the region band together to share resources, information, and hope. I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of such a caring community.
I have compiled a list of resources to help those impacted and for those who are willing and able to support those impacted, and will continue searching for ways to help.
